When an older loved one needs support to remain independent, safe, and comfortable in the home, home care services are a great solution. But what happens when a loved one’s caregiver goes home at the end of their shift? Unless the older loved one receives around-the-clock care, there are intervals where they’re going to be on their own and without immediate access to support.

For many, 24/7, around-the-clock care is not realistic, preferred, or financially viable. We recognize that interruptions in care can cause stress for family caregivers, and safety concerns for older adults. That is why we’ve invested heavily in researching effective and non-intrusive ways to close these gaps.

We are thrilled to announce the launch of our new collaboration with StackCare, and to share how it will elevate the level of care Absolute Companion Care can provide to you and your family!

With SmartCare by StackCare, family caregivers gain peace of mind in knowing a loved one has senior care technology in place that will give them an additional layer of support between caregiver visits.

What Is SmartCare and How Does It Work?

You are likely aware of other types of senior care technology tools, such as cameras and wearable pendants. In contrast to those devices, SmartCare is unobtrusive and will not impede a family member’s way of life – because they don’t have to wear anything at all or have anxiety about being recorded on camera. Instead, SmartCare uses tiny, discreetly-positioned motion sensors which can be placed throughout the home. In a matter of minutes, the system is operational.

From there, artificial intelligence learns about the person’s typical activities, routines, and behaviors by collecting data supplied by the motion sensors. Instant notifications are sent to you and/or our care team to notify of any modifications to motion patterns which may be a cause for concern. For instance, if a loved one’s trips to the bathroom are increasing, it might suggest a urinary tract infection or other health concern.

These real-time updates allow for immediate, proactive intervention, to decrease the risk of hospitalizations or the need for the person to face a move to a long-term care facility.

What Are the Benefits of SmartCare?

Perhaps the biggest benefit is the peace of mind you’ll have, knowing your loved one is safe and well. With daily updates, you can feel comfortable knowing that the older loved one has had a good night’s sleep and is engaging in normal activities around the home.

Additional benefits include:

  • No batteries to change, cameras, or microphones
  • Nothing the person has to remember to put on or press for help
  • Built-in thermometers to be sure the home temperature is comfortable
  • No sense of intrusion that a camera may cause
  • A chat component to easily share information with family members
  • Privacy protection
  • Easy installation and operation
  • 24/7 access to real-time alerts and insights
  • And more

There Are a Variety of Ways to Use SmartCare

We know that each person’s needs are unique. That is why we provide a number of different ways for you to integrate SmartCare into a loved one’s care routine:

  • 24/7 monitoring by our in-home care professionals
  • A “Share the Care” model in which we monitor during the day, and your family takes over throughout the evenings and weekends
